Indo-Pak summit to be held in Agra

Josy Joseph in New Delhi

The government announced on Tuesday the dates for the visit of Chief Executive General Pervez Musharraf of Pakistan for the proposed summit with Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

An external affairs ministry spokesman said General Musharraf would be arriving in New Delhi on July 14 and would be in India till July 16.

After a ceremonial welcome for the general in Delhi, he and Prime Minister Vajpayee will retreat to Agra, the city of the fabled Taj Mahal, for the summit.

Musharraf will also visit the dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti at Ajmer Sharif in Rajasthan, the spokesman said.

The detailed itinerary for the Pakistani leader's visit is yet to be worked out.
