Gadar screening suspended in Bhopal after violence

Violence broke out on Tuesday in a cinema hall in Bhopal screening the Sunny Deol, Amisha Patel period drama Gadar.

The theatre, Lily Talkies, is located in the old part of the city, which is predominantly populated by Muslims.

Initial reports said about 400 activists led by a Youth Congress leader, Arif Masood, attacked the hall in protest against the way in which the Hindu-Muslim love story had been portrayed.

Apparently, Gadar is the fourth film in recent times where a Muslim girl is shown marrying a non-Muslim. Zubeida, Dahek, Fiza were the others.
