The prime accused in the Phoolan Devi murder case Sher Singh Rana alias Pankaj was on Sunday admitted to the Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi for severe headache and high blood pressure.
Pankaj was admitted to the hospital around 1345 hours (IST) and his medico-legal certificate (prepared at the time of admission) said he was suffering from severe headache and uneasiness. At the time of admission, his blood pressure was said to be 130/90.
Pankaj was made to undergo various test, including a CT scan.
Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Jagdish Prasad said, "Pankaj was admitted with high BP and headache. In fact, he has a history of high BP. We have conducted the required tests. He is normal now. But he will be kept under observation for the next 48 hours."
Sources in the hospital said he had no internal or external injuries and that his present predicament could be the reason for his health problems.
Pankaj was in the custody of the crime branch of the Delhi police and had been kept at the R K Puram police in south Delhi.
He was taken to the hospital after he complained of a severe headache and uneasiness.
He has been kept in a separate room in the hospital amidst heavy security. No one is being allowed to meet Pankaj.
