Pakistani troops opened fire on Indian positions in Kargil district of Jammu and Kashmir for the second successive day on Saturday, a defence spokesman said.
However, the intensity of the firing had reduced, he added.
The firing started by about 1600 hours on Saturday and there was no report of any casualty, the spokesman said.
Kargil, in the frontier region of Ladakh, witnessed escalated firing including artillery shelling by Pakistani troops on Friday for the first time, after 1999 Kargil war.
The shelling was heavy and shells landed close to Kargil town and in the area of Channi Gund, south of Kargil.
However, the police in Kargil maintained that there was no fresh shelling from across the border on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Indian, Pakistani troops exchange fire at 23 places along the international border on Friday night in which a BSF jawan was injured in Akhnoor sector, a report from Jammu said.
