Vajpayee calls another all-party meeting on summit

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee will address an all-party meeting on the Agra summit at 1800 IST on Thursday.

Briefing reporters after a meeting of the Union Cabinet, Parliamentary Affairs & Information Technology Minister Pramod Mahajan said, "The prime minister was of the view that he owes an explanation to the leaders of the political parties regarding what had happened at the Agra summit."

Vajpayee had taken the leaders of various political parties into confidence and discussed with them his meeting with President Pervez Musharraf of Pakistan before the summit.

Mahajan said the Cabinet also discussed the flood in Orissa though it was not on the agenda.

He said the prime minister is in touch with Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who has asked for a sum of Rs 200 crore [$42.55 million] to tackle the situation.

Mahajan said the prime minister has ordered the immediate release Rs 100 crore and will send a central team to assess the situation a little later.
