Agra Declaration being prepared, says Pak officer

A possible 'Agra Declaration' is under preparation, according to the Pakistani government's information officer, Ashfaque Ahmad Gondal.

Gondal reported after the third one-to-one meeting of President Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee from 1030 to 1130 IST on Monday that the two delegations are preparing a joint statement.

That statement, which is likely to consist of nine points, may finally be known as the Agra Declaration.

"We are quite happy with the developments," Gondal said, "except that we are wondering what prompted Information and Broadcasting Minister Sushma Swaraj to talk to the press without talking about Kashmir."
