Hurriyat-Musharraf meeting likely before 'High Tea'

The leaders of the Hurriyat Conference are likely to meet President Pervez Musharraf before the tea party being hosted by the Pakistani High Commission on Saturday.

Hurriyat sources on Thursday night said that the details were being worked out and the meeting would take place before the reception by Pakistani High Commissioner Ashraf Jehangir Qazi.

The Hurriyat leaders would also meet Foreign Minister Abdul Sattar later, the sources said.

Meanwhile, a two-member team of Hurriyat Conference comprising firebrand Jamaat-e-Islami leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani and noted Shia leader Maulana Abbas Ansari arrived in Delhi Thursday evening to attend the meeting and the reception on the weekend.

In another related development, moderate Hurriyat leader Abdul Gani Lone is unlikely to attend the reception following the line of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, the Hurriyat sources said.

Meanwhile, the JKLF, which decided to boycott the tea party on July 10, has not reversed its decision even as Hurriyat Conference leader Mirwaiz Umer Farooq tried to intervene and sort out the matter, the sources added.
