Musharraf apprises China on summit

Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf apprised China, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates on Wednesday over his forthcoming visit to India.

Musharraf met the Chinese ambassador and handed him a letter for the Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji.

This is part of the consultations with friendly states, Pakistan Information Secretary Syed Anwar Mahmood and Defence spokesman Major General Rashid Qureshi said.

The move is significant as Pakistan and China share close economic and defence ties.

The President also had a telephonic conversation with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Prince Abdullah and Sultan of United Arab Emirates Sheikh Zaid bin Sultan Al-Nahyan.

The process of consultations is still going on, Mahmood said.
