Invites issued to Hurriyat: Pakistan Radio

Despite India's reservations, invitations have been issued to Hurriyat leaders to meet President Pervez Musharraf at a reception to be hosted by the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi later this month, a State Radio report in Islamabad said.

The confirmation of invitations being issued comes even as India expressed its strong objection a couple of days back to the Pakistani foreign office after it was reported that Musharraf had written a letter to Hurriyat leaders inviting them for talks.

As per the details of the programme broadcast by Pakistan State Radio, Musharraf would arrive in New Delhi on July 14 in the morning. A ceremonial reception at the Rashtrapati Bhavan would be followed by meetings with External Affairs Minister Jaswant Singh, Home Minister L K Advani and Leader of the Opposition Sonia Gandhi.

Later in the day, he would attend a lunch hosted in his honour by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and visit his ancestral house. He will then attend the reception hosted in his honour at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, where he would meet Hurriyat leaders.

On July 15, General Musharraf would leave for Agra where he would have several rounds of the talks with Vajpayee. On July 16, he would have a breakfast meeting with editors of Indian newspapers and visit Ajmer Sharif.
