Panun Kashmir asks PM to take up Pandits' issue with Musharraf

Panun Kashmir groups on Friday urged Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to take up the issue of displaced Pandits with the Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf during the forthcoming summit.

In a memorandum submitted to Vajpayee, the joint working council of Panun Kashmir and Panun Kashmir Movement said India reserved the right to ask for compensation from Pakistan which, it said, connived in the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from their own homeland in the valley.

The memorandum also said a process be set up to facilitate the annual pilgrimage of Kashmiri Hindus to Sharda temple in Pakistan occupied Kashmir.

Kashmiri Hindus had been denied access to this ancient temple of learning since 1947, it added.
