Baalu released from prison

Union Minister for Environment and Forests T R Baalu was released from the Vellore central jail on Tuesday evening, the police said.

Baalu, who was released at 5.50 pm (IST), was proceeding to Madras from Vellore.

Baalu, whose release orders were signed by a magistrate court on Monday itself, refused to come out of custody demanding that the charges against him be dropped.

The state government on Tuesday dropped the case against him.
