Jaya refuses to comment on arrests

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Monday refused to comment on the arrest of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leader M Karunanidhi and two Central ministers.

Jayalalithaa is on a pilgrimage to a number of temples in and around Guruvayur.

"I am on a purely private visit here. I am not answering any political questions," Jayalalithaa, said while offering prayers at the Alathiyur Hanuman Temple in Guruvayur.

Jayalalithaa offered the deity a golden crown weighing 75 sovereigns and valued at Rs 275000. She also gave a donation of Rs 105000 for the temple's renovation.

After spending about 40 minutes at the temple, Jayalalithaa left by road to the Raja Rajeswari Temple at Thaliparambu.

Just before Jayalalithaa's arrival, police removed about 20 Bharatiya Janata Party workers, who were shouting slogans against her.
