Bison attacks two Karnataka
STF personnel: PTI

Two Special Task Force personnel belonging to Karnataka were admitted to the government hospital in Coimbatore on Wednesday night, following injuries caused by a wild bison in the Sathyamangalam forest, during combing operations to nab outlaw Veerappan, police sources said on Thursday.

According to the police, the personnel were part of a 12-member team involved in combing operations in Kalampalayam.

SI Monappa sustained injuries on his hip and constable Thippeswamy on the forehead, lips and nose, they said.

After been given initial treatment at Satyamangalam government hospital, they were admitted to the government hospital on Wednesday night, they said.

In another incident, 70-year-old Mookappan, a guide to the STF team, was attacked by an elephant in a nearby forest area.

Mookappan, with twisted ankles, was also admitted to the hospital, the police added.
