POTO invoked against four in Parliament attack case

The Delhi police on Tuesday invoked the provisions of the controversial Prevention of Terrorism Ordinance against four persons arrested in connection with the terrorist attack on Parliament.

The four persons -- Mohammad Afzal, Abdul Rehman Geelani, Shaukat Hussain and his wife Navjot Sandhu alias Afshan -- arrested for conspiracy in the December 13 attack have been booked under POTO, although initially the case was registered under other laws, Delhi Police commissioner Ajai Raj Sharma said.

To a question, he said there might be one or two persons still in Delhi to be arrested in connection with the case.

About reports of a Jordanian friend of Geelani being involved in the attack, he said his role was being verified.

He said messages in the laptop seized from the arrested persons were being deciphered.

"This will prove out to be the most sensitive investigation. A lot of things will come out," he said, adding that he would not disclose anything about the probe at the present stage.

He also denied that anybody linked to Parliament had helped the terrorists. The bodies of the five terrorists -- Mohammed, Raja, Rana, Haider and Hamza -- remained with police even a day after post-mortem was conducted as 'some formalities were to be carried out'.
