Union Minister for Rural Development Venkaiah Naidu on Saturday said political parties, including the Congress and the Communists, would face public wrath for opposing the Prevention of Terrorism Ordinance.
"The party which brought about the Maintenance of Internal Security Act and the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities Act, is now opposing POTO. But the government is confident about the passage of the bill in Parliament," Naidu told reporters at the National Convention of Real Estate Industry in Bombay.
"We need the political will to eradicate the menace of terrorism and Opposition's efforts to resist this legislation will boomerang," Naidu said.
The security of people comes first. Only after we ensure peace that development can become the focus, the minister said.
