Patwa, who had not been keeping well for about a year now, sent in his resignation to Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee hours after a meeting with him during which he had offered to quit on health grounds, official sources said.
His resignation comes a day before the Union Council of Ministers is to be expanded and reshuffled.
