Musharraf trip led to better awareness: Narayanan

Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf's visit to India last month has led to a better understanding between the two countries, President K R Narayanan said on Tuesday.

In a message to Musharraf on the occasion of Pakistan's Independence Day, Narayanan said: "Your visit has contributed to a better awareness of respective viewpoints. This initiation of the dialogue process between our two countries will, I hope, contribute to the furthering of our bilateral relations."

"On the occasion of the Independence Day of Pakistan, I extend to you good wishes on behalf of the government and the people of India."

"India remains firmly committed to the establishment of a relationship of peace, friendship and cooperation with Pakistan," the president said.
