There was no report of any firing since Thursday, but an uneasy calm prevailed in the worst-hit Boraibari, Shahapara, Thakurianbari and Karipara, besides 30 other villages, a senior BSF officer said.
The panic-stricken people, who had fled their homes following shelling and exchange of fire between BDR and BSF on Wednesday, were returning in small groups.
A flag meeting between the two border security forces was also held on Thursday evening for restoring peace in the area, he added.
