Thai court postpones Muivah's trialA Thai court on Friday postponed the trial of Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagaland leader Thuingaleng Muivah because prosecution witnesses failed to show up, court officials and his lawyers said. Muivah, secretary general of the NSCN, faces charges of using false travel documents to enter Thailand. He was caught, at Bangkok airport, trying to enter the country on a fake South Korean passport in January and arrested by Thai immigration officials. He was later re-arrested and jailed after he was caught travelling on a fake Singaporean passport while out on bail. "The case was postponed to November after immigration officials failed to turn up at the court to testify," said his lawyer Apam Muivah, who is a cousin of the rebel leader. Muivah, who was bailed by his lawyers earlier this week, briefly appeared in court, his lawyer added. The NSCN has been fighting for an independent Naga homeland since India's independence in 1947. An estimated 25,000 people, on both sides, have lost their lives in the insurgency. EARLIER REPORTS
