RSS calls for boycott of foreign goods: PTI

K G Suresh in New Delhi

Taking an aggressive posture on the issue of multinationals, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Saturday called on people, particularly its cadres, to boycott their goods and adopt domestically manufactured swadeshi goods.

The foreign companies were eating into vitals of the nation's economy and some MNCs were diverting part of their profits to Christian missionary activities in the country, RSS joint general secretary H V Seshadri told the organisers' national security camp.

In a situation where unbridled foreign investors were being allowed, the only option left to save the country's economy from alien domination was for the people to boycott foreign goods and adopt swadeshi products, he said.

Seshadri said economic security was as important as border security.

The RSS and its frontal organisations, including the Swadeshi Jagaran Manch have been highly critical of the entry of the MNCs into the country, saying they were detrimental to the interest of domestic industries.

Seshadri said the massive infiltration of Bangladeshis into the country was another major threat to national security.

Many districts of Assam, Bengal and Bihar were dominated by illegal migrants, he said and asked the RSS cadres to bring the presence of such people to notice of the administration.

Seshadri also made a veiled threat to the Bharatiya Janata Party by recalling the parable of a mouse which was turned into a lion by a saint and which tried to eat the saint later.

"Within no time, the saint turned the lion back into a mouse," he said, adding, "the RSS did not discriminate between parties in power and state powers will have to bow before the power of the people".
