H T Sangliana is new Karna STF chief

The Karnataka government Tuesday appointed H T Sangliana as the new Special Task Force chief.

This announcement was made by Karnataka Chief Minister S M Krishna on the floor of the House.

Sangliana has already left for M M Hills to take charge of STF operations. His brief, sources said, is to nab the sandalwood smuggler.

Sangliana, an IPS officer of Mizoram cadre, will replace M D Singh.

"We will co-ordinate with the Tamil Nadu government on this operation and take help from the Centre too," Krishna said and added that he hoped that the Central government would take a lead and nab Veerapan.

Known for his dare devilry, a film has been made in Kannada on Sangliana. Leading Karnataka actor Vishnuvardhan played the lead role in the film.
