Pressure builds on Nedumaran to change mind

In a bid to persuade Tamil National Movement leader P Nedumaran to undertake another mission to the Satyamangalam forest, where forest brigand Veerappan continues to hold Kannada superstar Dr Rajakumar and one another hostage, PMK founder Dr S Ramadoss and a delegation of the Karnataka film industry called on him Thursday.

Ramadoss, who spent 15 minutes with Nedumaran, later criticised the leader of the opposition in Tamil Nadu Assembly, S Balakrishnan, for accusing Nedumaran of indulging in anti-national activities.

Balakrishnan has alleged that Nedumaran, on his last mission to the jungle, had hoisted the 'Tamil liberation flag' at Veerappan's hideout. Following the accusation, Nedumaran pulled out of the mission.

Wednesday Nedumaran turned down repeated requests of Dr Rajakumar's sons to change his mind.

Filmstar Ambareesh, who led the Kannada film industry delegation, said Nedumaran was the only hope and hence hoped he would reconsider his decision and undertake the mission.

The delegation also included S A Govindaraj, son-in-law of Dr Rajakumar.
