Breakdown in telecom services in Bombay to be probedThe government has ordered an inquiry into Tuesday's breakdown of the telecom network across Bombay and a report will be called for immediately to ascertain the factual position. The order came soon after Bharatiya Janata Party and Shiv Sena Members of Parliament from Maharashtra called on Union Minister of Communications Ram Vilas Paswan Wednesday. They complained that the telecom network was disrupted by local telecom officials with the connivance of Congress party workers and local police, an official release said in New Delhi. Paswan told the parliamentarians that according to information received from his officials, the network went off temporarily due to technical reasons and overload of traffic on the telecom exchanges. Thousands of telephones went dead, including mobile telephones of both BPL and Orange, soon after Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray left his bungalow in Bandra in Bombay to get himself arrested at 1050 hours Tuesday.
