Karnataka ex-CM J H Patel dies at 71

Former Karnataka chief minister and senior Janata Dal, United, politician Jayadevappa Halappa Patel died in Manipal in the early hours of Tuesday at a private hospital. He was 71 and is survived by his wife and three sons.

Patel had been undergoing treatment for a liver ailment in Manipal Hospital since December 1 and was on ventilator support for the last one week. His condition turned highly critical on Monday and he died at 0330 IST on Tuesday.
