Another cassette on the way, say TN policeThe Tamil Nadu police on Wednesday said yet another tape, along with some photographs of Kannada star Rajakumar, were expected either on Wednesday night or early on Thursday morning. A brief press release from Director General of Police F C Sharma in Madras said they had received reliable information to this effect. It also said it might take some more time for the release of Dr Rajakumar and three others held hostage by forest brigand Veerappan since July 30. 'This tape may have messages from Dr Rajakumar and [official emissary] R R Gopal. As per available information, Dr Rajakumar is safe and healthy,' it said. Meanwhile, Tamil biweekly Nakkeeran, whose editor is the official emissary, said one of its reporters, who had gone to the jungles along with Gopal, had contacted the magazine's office to say the audio cassette and photographs were on their way. The magazine's associate editor, A Kamaraj, said in a press release that the reporter had told him that negotiations with the outlaw were continuing and more details were available on the audio cassette. The tape and photographs were expected in Madras sometime after midnight, he added. This will be the fourth audiocassette to have surfaced since the crisis broke out. This has been the principal medium of communication between the outlaw's gang and the governments. PTI
