No-confidence motion against Chautala govtThe Haryana assembly today admitted an opposition-sponsored no-confidence motion against the three- and-a-half-month-old Om Parkash Chautala government. The notice for the motion was given by the Congress and the Haryana Vikas Party MLAs expressing lack of faith in the Indian National Lok Dal government. This is the first no-confidence motion against the Chautala government after it assumed power on July 24 this year. Twenty-five opposition MLAs belonging to the Congress and the HVP favoured the motion when Speaker Ashok Kumar Arora put it before the House. Admitting the motion the Speaker said the motion would be taken up for discussion after the business of the House listed for the day was over. In the 90-member house, the ruling INLD has 36 members and is supported by the 12-member BJP group, seven of the ten independents and the four break-away HVP legislators, who were recently inducted into the ministry. The Congress has 14 members and the HVP 14. UNI
