Pak plans to 'occupy territory'Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has said he had told his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharief that India would not allow any intrusion to take place in its territory. Addressing the media in Pondicherry yesterday, he said the ''incidents in Kargil were not just an infiltration but a design to occupy some territory''. Stating that he had spoken to Sharief over phone on Monday on the 'new challenge' faced by the country in Kargil, he said the incidents were a violation of the Lahore Declaration. Later, speaking at a function, Vajpayee said the country was ''determined to deal with the situation in Kargil effectively''. He asserted that the country's borders were ''more safe now than at any point of time in the past''. He declined to comment on Congress president Sonia Gandhi's withdrawal of resignation, saying it was an internal affair of the party. Vajpayee said Sonia's security was a delicate matter and should not be politicised. He said her security had been tightened. She had been informed about the nature of the threat and was fully co-operating with the government. UNI
