Samata to contest five LS seats from JharkhandThe Samata Party will contest at least five Lok Sabha seats in the Jharkhand region of Bihar in the coming Lok Sabha elections. This was decided at a meeting of the party's Ranchi district unit yesterday. This may come as a jolt to the Bharatiya Janata Party. All the 14 seats in south Bihar were contested by the BJP, which had tie-up with the Samata Party, in the 1998 parliamentary polls. The party also decided to hold a block-level workers' meeting soon to mobilise the electorate in favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party-Samata Party combine.
