Congress expels Pawar's protégé BhujbalChhagan Bhujbal, leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Council, was today expelled from the Congress party for six years for indulging in anti-party activities. Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee president Pratap Bhosale confirmed that Bhujbal had been expelled from the party. Bhujbal said that though he had been expelled, the party could not remove him from the post of leader of the Opposition. He said most of the Congress members of the legislative council are with him and they fully support him as their leader. Reacting to his expulsion, Bhujbal, a former Shiv Sena politician, said it was expected and "not an earth-shaking news". "I now feel that I am really with Mr Sharad Pawar and will serve his new party," he said. UNI
