Vajpayee pays tributes to ShivajiPrime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee today paid rich tributes to the great Maratha warrior, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on the his 319th death anniversary. Vajpayee garlanded a statue of Shivaji at the Raigad fort in Raigad district of Maharashtra and later performed pooja at the Jagdishwar mandir. Vajpayee also visited Shivaji's samadhi and released a souvenir on the occasion. Vajpayee arrived at the Bombay airport this morning by a special Indian Air Force Boeing and later reached the fort by A helicopter. He was accompanied by Maharashtra Governor P C Alexander, Chief Minister Narayan Rane, Deputy Chief Minister Gopinath Munde, Union Inoformation and Broadcasting Minister Pramod Mahajan, Union Minister for Environment and Forests Suresh Prabhu and Minister of State for Railways Ram Naik. In the evening, the prime minister will rename the Sahar international airport after Shivaji. UNI
