Naxalites kill 4 Ranvir Sena men in Bihar

E-Mail this report to a friend

Suspected People's War Group activists killed four members of the Ranvir Sena at Bhimpura village in Jehanabad district in Bihar around midnight last night.

The victims were identified as Pramod Singh (25), Santosh Singh (22), Lalan Singh (25) and Ram Swaroop Singh (50).

Police sources in Patna said over a dozen PWG men, equipped with firearms, attacked the village and opened fire on several people sleeping in their farms. The Naxalites then took the four men outside the village and shot them at point blank range.

The police said the ill-fated village was close to Narayanpur where 11 dalits had been massacred by suspected Ranvir Sena activists on February 10. The incident had led to the imposition of President's rule in Bihar

Inspector General of Police (operations) M K Sinha, DIG (Magadh range) S K Bharadwaj and other senior police officers rushed to the spot.

This is the second major incident in the trouble-torn district after the imposition of President's rule on February 12. The first had occurred on February 13 at Ushribazar in which seven people were killed.
