Communication facilities in Kargil upgraded

The department of telecommunication will import seven mini Inmarsat terminals to be used in the forward areas in order to strengthen communication facilities at Kargil

To cope with the increased communication traffic in Kargil area and to ease congestion, additional multi-channel VSAT equipment have been installed at Kargil.

With this, seven more channels have been added to the existing ones, resulting in easier communication to the area, an official release said today.

For Leh area too, circuits have similarly been increased by installing Intermediate Data Rate satellite equipment , the release says.
