US team holds talks with Pak officialsGeneral Anthony Zinni, Commander-in-Chief of US Central Command, and Assistant Secretary of State Gibson Lanpher have arrived in Islamabad. Officials said the high-level team has met top Pakistani officials and tried to convince them on the need for restoring peace in Kargil. Quoting unnamed Western officials, CNN has reported that the general would reiterate US President Bill Clinton's stand that Pakistani forces must be moved out of Indian territory. Neither the US embassy nor the Pakistan military offered any comment on the talks, according CNN.
