Film industry to raise money for soldiersThe film industry has decided to join the rest of the country in expressing solidarity with the jawans fighting the Pakistani intruders in Kargil. The Film Federation of India has decided that the collection of the 3pm shows in all cinema houses across the country on July 25 will be contributed towards the injured soldiers. The film industry hopes that the day being a Sunday, cinema halls will attract houseful crowds. An industry spokesperson said there are 12,500 cinema halls in the country and even at a conservative estimate, a sum of Rs 1 million is likely to be raised. Besides, the exhibitors' fee, distributors' share and entertainment tax will also go to the fund. This decision was taken at a special meeting convened by the FFI yesterday. The meeting was attended by representatives of various film bodies. UNI |
