Success of talks will depend on Pak: PM

E-Mail this report to a friend

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has said India wanted the talks with Pakistan during Foreign Minister Sartaj Aziz's visit to New Delhi to succeed, the latter's controversial statement on the status of the Line of Control notwithstanding.

''We want the talks to succeed,'' he said while addressing the media after receiving Flight Lieutenant K Nachiketa at his residence on his arrival from Pakistan.

However, the success of the talks would depend on the attitude of Pakistan, Vajpayee said.

He said India was considering Pakistan's offer for Aziz's visit to New Delhi on June 7.
