Russia to modernise India's MiG fleetRussia has agreed to upgrade India's MiG fighter plane fleet with the latest technology, media reports today said. The agreement was finalised during first Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Khristenk's just-concluded visit to New Delhi, reports Segodnya. ''The modernisation and overhauling, costing around $ 340 million, will make the 125-MiG-21 BIS of the Indian Air Force fully combat ready,'' the newspaper says. The Russian media recently reported the visit of an Indian defence delegation to the industrial town of Chelyabinsk, where it examined some high-tech combat fighter plane engines. Voice of Russia had also reported that Moscow was extending assistance for producing these sophisticated engines in India. UNI
