Al Badar calls Sharief a coward

E-Mail this report to a friend

Pakistan's militant Islamic group, Al Badar, today attacked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharief for opposing war with India over Kashmir.

''Sharief loves life and fears death. Those who fear death can never wage a war,'' the group said in a statement denouncing Sharief's speech justifying his climbdown in Kashmir to avert another India-Pakistan war.

Al Badar is among the Islamic groups to which Sharief appealed to stop their jihad (holy war) in the Kargil area and give diplomacy a chance to resolve the Kashmir issue.

Sharief claims the Islamic guerillas have started withdrawing from Kargil but the groups have denied and vowed to continue the jihad.
