Pak trying to turn LoC into border: JKLFA pro-independence Kashmiri group has accused Pakistan and the United States-led Western powers of trying to turn the military Line of Control in Kashmir into the international border between India and Pakistan. Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front chairman Amanullah Khan said in Islamabad that ''no self-respecting Kashmiri could tolerate that''. He said the Kashmiris never accepted the LoC because they were not a party to the 1972 Simla Agreement between India and Pakistan from which the line emerged. By insisting on maintaining the sanctity of the LoC in the wake of the recent fighting between the two countries in Kashmir, Western powers wanted ''to relegate the Kashmir issue to oblivion'', he added. ''It would be the height of foolishness to expect a concrete result of the (proposed Kashmir) parleys.'' He announced that the JKLF would organise a mass crossing of the LoC by the Kashmiris on October 4 to commemorate a provisional government of 'independent Jammu and Kashmir' established in 1947 but was ''reduced by Pakistan to a local authority'' later.
