E-Mail this report to a friend

Pakistan has alleged that two officials attached to its high commission in New Delhi were kidnapped and illegally detained for more than three hours by Indian intelligence operatives.

A Pakistan high commission press release today said that the two officials were picked up last evening from the Sarojini Nagar market in southern Delhi.

The joint secretary in the ministry of external affairs was informed about the incident and a first information report was lodged at the Sarojini Nagar police station, it said.

In Islamabad yesterday, Yograj Vij, a staffer at the Indian high commission was beaten up at his doorstep along with a guard by more than a dozen armed intelligence operatives before being abducted.

The Indian high commission had reported the matter to the police and lodged a protest with the Pakistan foreign ministry.
