E-Mail this report to a friend

Naxalites belonging to the Communist Party of India-Marxist Leninist Janasakhti group set fire to the house of a woman sarpanch and tried to kill another person in separate incidents in Andhra Pradesh.

The police said the naxals set ablaze the house of B Lakshmi, a Telugu Desam Party sarpanch, and paddy and hay stacked in the premises in Bhramanapalli village in Warangal district.

Later they also set fire to the paddy stocks of two other persons in the same village, suspecting that they were involved in an attack of a member of their group, Sara Yellaiah.

The Janasakhti naxals also fired at one M Narayana in Madipadi village of Karimnagar district. Narayana escaped unhurt under the cover of darkness, the police said.
