Declare Pakistan a terrorist state: Joshi

E-Mail this report to a friend

Union Human Resources Development Minister Murli Manohar Joshi today called upon the international community to declare Pakistan a "terrorist nation" as it had crossed all acceptable limits in stoking violence in India.

Dr Joshi, who was addressing a news conference in Rajkot, said that by branding Pakistan a terrorist nation, the international community would be able to check its activities.

The minister said the recent intrusion in Kargil, the bloodbath in the Kashmir valley, and the training camps operated by the Inter-Services Intelligence across the border were all indicators that Pakistan had a long-term interest in fanning trouble in India.

The senior Bharatiya Janata Party politician, who is on an election campaign tour of Saurashtra, demanded that the Election Commission's ban on the electronic and print media conducting pre-poll surveys should be reviewed as people and the press had the right to know the public mood across the country.

In reply to a question, Joshi said his party would win a comfortable majority in the Lok Sabha.
