We voted against BJP, crows Mayawati

The five-member Bahujan Samaj Party voted against the Vajpayee government during the trust vote in the Lok Sabha today, party general-secretary Mayawati said.

Describing the BJP-led coalition's collapse as the ''people's verdict'', she said: ''How can I support the BJP, which inflicted a split in our party? All five of our members voted against the government,'' she told reporters.

Mayawati had yesterday said her party would abstain during the confidence vote.
