Heat wave continues over north India

Heat wave conditions prevailed in Jammu and Kashmir, Madhya Pradesh and parts of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, east Rajasthan, Vidarbha, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Day temperatures were markedly above normal in parts of Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Marathwada and north coastal Tamil Nadu.

They were appreciably above normal in central Maharashtra, parts of Gujarat and interior Karnataka, and the remaining parts of Assam, Meghalaya, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, east Rajasthan, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu.

They were above normal in parts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Orissa and Kerala.

Day temperatures were normal in the rest of the country barring Arunachal Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh from where data were sparse.

Rain or thundershowers fell at most places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, at many places in south interior Karnataka, at a few places in Kerala and at isolated places in Assam, Meghalaya, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Tamil Nadu.

Very light rain also fell at isolated places in Rayalaseema.

Mainly dry weather prevailed over the rest of the country.

Rain or thundershowers are likely to fall at many places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and at isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, the hills of west Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, interior Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep.

Mainly dry weather will prevail over the rest of the country.
