PM admits price rise may hurt BJPPrime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee today admitted that the price rise could affect the results of the assembly election in four states "to a certain extent". He told the media at Mana airport in Raipur, Madhya Pradesh, that he had convened a meeting of all chief ministers to discuss the matter and solicit suggestions to arrest the price rise. Admitting that Mamata Banerjee had demanded the convening of such a meeting, Vajpayee, however, clarified that she had not issued any warning to the government on the matter. In fact, he said, the Trinamul Congress leader had already announced continuation of her support to the coalition government at the Centre. Asked for his reaction to the Congress party's new slogan, 'We need onion, not Pokhran', Vajpayee said we need both Pokhran and onion. UNI |
