Khurana blames media for ''distorting'' factsKhurana blames media for ''distorting'' factsWith the assembly polls nearing, warring Bharatiya Janata Party leaders Madan Lal Khurana and Sahib Singh Verma today appeared to have patched up, blaming the media for distorting facts and statements. Khurana said at a press conference here that his statement after the murder of Samata Party candidate Ved Singh in which he was reported as having said that anti-social elements were being encouraged in the party recently, had been ''twisted'' by the media. ''My statement was twisted by the media. My hint was not about Sahib Singh Verma but only about the general situation. Many leaders have given such statements. But only my statement was distorted,'' he said. The Union minister however, agreed that he had differences with Sahib Singh Verma on certain issues when the latter was Delhi chief minister but said there were no misunderstandings now. "Now that Sahib Singh is no longer the chief minister, there are no differences with him and we all are working together like a team to win the November 25 elections,'' he said. He said the BJP's promise that Delhi would be given full statehood, could be realised only after it came back to power. This possibility was remote if congress won the elections. ''They have not included the issue even in their manifesto,'' he added. Lashing out at the Congress for not doing anything for the people of Delhi and highlighting the achievements of his own government, Khurana said the Congress had no moral right to contest the elections since they had lost the people's confidence. |
