ELECTIONS '98
|
Borders of states going to the polls to be sealedElection Commissioner G V G Krishnamurthy today said the borders of all the four states which go to the polls on November 25 would be sealed to prevent infiltration by anti-social elements and such people who could create a law and order problem during voting. Krishnamurthy said he was satisfied with arrangements made for the smooth conduct of the elections in the Jabalpur division, and said he would consider the request of the district administration for additional police force during the polls. Talking to the media, he said the mere possession of the voters' identity card did not give a person the right to vote. The individual could cast his vote only when his name figured in the voters' list, he said, but added that each person should bring his voters' identity card to ease the voting process. UNI
