No viable alternative to BJP government, says MoopanarTamil Maanila Congress president G K Moopanar today discounted the possibility of a stable alternative government at the Centre in the event of the fall of the Vajpayee government. Addressing a press conference in Madras, he said the present arithmetic in Parliament would not result in a stable, alternative government. Asked if he shared the left parties' perception that the days of the BJP-led government at the Centre were numbered, Moopanar shot back: "Why are you in a hurry". Asked whether he thought a mid-term poll to the Lok Sabha was inevitable, he said it was his wish that there would be no mid-term poll. He said the political parties would be forced to re-examine their approach after the coming assembly elections in four northern states. On the formation of the third front, Moopanar said his party would hold talks with other secular parties in this regard. The ruling DMK and the TMC knew each other's views in this regard, but they did not discuss the issue so far, he added. UNI
