ELECTIONS '98
|
Shekhawat, Nawal Kishore enter the race in RajasthanChief Minister Bhairon Singh Shekhawat of the Bharatiya Janata Party and veteran Congress politician Nawal Kishore Sharma today filed their nominations for the assembly election in Rajasthan. While Shekhawat filed his candidature from Johri Bazaar constituency of the Pink City, Sharma, a former Union minister, will contest the adjoining constituency of Jaipur Rural. While this will be Shekhawat's eleventh assembly election (he has participated in every election since 1952), Sharma is contesting an assembly election for the first time. Interestingly, Minister of State for Law and Justice Kali Charan Saraf (BJP) had earlier filed his papers from Johri Bazaar constituency, which he represents in the assembly. Political observers believe Shekhawat will later file his papers from some other constituency. Meanwhile, Minister of State for Planning Rajpal Singh Shekhawat also filed his nomination papers from the capital city's Banipark constituency. UNI |
