Pakistan continues attack on SiachenJust two days before the crucial Indo-Pak talks in New Delhi, Pakistani troops launched another unsuccessful attack on the Siachen glacier. This one, the fourth in recent days, attempted to capture a shoulder of a strategic pass in the northern part of the glacier. A defence ministry spokesman said despite suffering about 13 casualties, the foreign troops continued their attempt to capture posts along the Actual Ground Position Line. Discussions on Siachen and other bilateral issues between the two countries are scheduled to be held on November 6 in New Delhi. The spokesman said the attack was different from the earlier attempts. This time, a ''probing action'' was first conducted in the glacier's southern part. The attack was preceded by 20 minutes of heavy mortar fire. Immediately after this, three or four Pakistani soldiers were observed approaching the strategic post. A Pakistani soldier was either killed or wounded in the Indian response, the spokesman added.
