The Union government has allotted 140 companies of paramilitary forces for the smooth conduct of the November 25 assembly election in Rajasthan.

A police spokesman said the state government has sought additional 290 companies of central paramilitary forces.

The paramilitary forces, including the Border Security Force and the Central Industrial Security Force, are expected to come from the neighbouring states of Punjab, Haryana and Gujarat.

Meanwhile, a state-wide drive to unearth illegal arms manufacturers and holders has resulted in the arrest of 27 people. Forty-one cases have been registered so far. A total of 326 unlicensed weapons have also been seized from Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Udaipur and Dholpur districts.
